Aviation Business degree programme to Chongqing, China

Haaga-Helia has signed a contract with Chongqing University of Science and Technology (CQUST) to start Aviation Business Bachelor’s Degree programme in Chongqing. The programme will start in September 2017 when a group of teachers from Chongqing will come to Haaga-Helia and start shadowing Haaga-Helia Aviation Business teachers.

International Business Degree Programme to MONDRAGÓN-UCO, México

Haaga-Helia will start International Business Bachelor’s Degree Programme together with University of Mondragón in Queretaro México. The first students will start in fall 2017. The students will specialize in customer relationship management and supply chain management and the studying takes place in México, Finland, Brazil and China. The students will gain a Finnish Degree from the programme.

Master in Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Iran

Haaga-Helia has signed a contract with Shakhes Pajouh Research Institute (SPRI) in Iran to start a Master’s Degree Programme in Innovation and Entrepreneurship. This tailored and unique Master’s Degree is planned to start fall 2017 in Iran.

Vocational Teacher Education at Tshwane University of Technology, 2016 – 2019

School of Vocational Teacher Education has signed an agreement for training of Tshwane University of Technology (Pretoria, South Africa) faculty in higher education pedagogy. The aim is to train 150 faculty members at TUT in the state of art pedagogy.

Bachelor in Hospitality Management, Disted College, Malaysia

Disted College in Penang, Malaysia has signed a franchising agreement for delivery of Bachelor in Hospitality Management with specialisation in Food & Beverage Management.

Ministry of Higher Education in Colombia 2016

The Ministry of Education of Colombia, funded by the Interamerican Development Bank, in partnership with Haaga-Helia, developed a new multi-fold model for a mandatory nationwide tertiary education system -SNET-, to be launched during the Fall of 2017.

Malta ITS (Institute of Tourism Studies) Multi-Program Partnership

The Institute of Tourism Studies in Malta signed a partnership with Haaga-Helia, for the delivery of a Top-Up Program for Teachers in Culinary Management, soon to be reaching its end, and also for a Thesis Shadowing Program, the joint delivery of a Hospitality Management B.A., which combines the first country-wide Recognition of Prior Learning process.

Joint delivery programme with Malta College of Arts, Science & Technology

Haaga-Helia has signed a contract with Malta College of Arts, Science & Technology to plan and deliver a master degree programme in ICT (Master of Business Informatics) together with MCAST.

Metropolia co-operating in education export in Sri Lanka

Metropolia UAS signed four distinctive Memorandums of Understanding on cooperation on a business trip to Sri Lanka in December 2016. The four different partners are Colombo International Nautical and Engineering College (CINEC), Human Resource Management Institute (HRMI), International Institute of Health Sciences (IIHS) and University of Colombo.

Metropolia’s business services aims to identify opportunities to sell customized training, research, development and innovation (RDI) services as well as tailor-made degree programmes according to the customers’ needs in Sri Lanka.

The emphasis of the partnerships is on Clean Technology solutions as well as on Rehabilitation and Nursing. In co-operation with the partners, an effective business partnership model will be applied through a variety of implementation methods: the customized training (continuing education from Diploma level to a Bachelor Degree, organized in Finland), the franchising model (training held in Sri Lanka) and a combined model, where the teaching is carried out both in Sri Lanka and over the network from Finland. In addition, a variety of funding opportunities are being studied to promote the partnerships.

Haaga-Helia’s vocational teacher education programme in China

The China-Finland Center of Exellence in Vocational Education in Shanghai promotes and develops vocational education in China. Intiated in 2013 the collarboration involves education experts and officials from both Finland and China. Center is supported by state-level cooperation between the two countries.

Haaga-Helia’s pilot training programme in vocational teacher training was successfully completed in the fall of 2015. In the opening ceremony the first 57 Chinese vocational teachers were awarded with certificates of achievement.

The training programme had many benefits and take-aways:

- The goal is to increase the quality and attractiveness of vocational education in Shanghai and in China.

- Close ties to business life: Finnish multinational companies operating in China KONE and Valmet are the center’s industry partners.

- Organizers of the education engage actively with businesses in their area.

- Offers students the possibility to continue their studies in higher education.

New vocational teachers in Colombia

Haaga-Helia School of Vocational Teacher Education and Colombia’s state owned education provider SENA combined forces to deliver vocational teacher education in Bogota, Colombia in 2014–2016.

The goal of the training was to delelop the Colombian vocational training. The programme was consistent with the objectives and content of Finnish teacher education.
The 60-credit programme included six week-long contact periods in Bogota, supported by intensive e-learning and guidance. A grop of 15 motivated vocational teachers took part in this pioneering project and received their certificates in 2016.
The studies comprise six modules, which include e.g. learning assignments related to learning, competence assessment and instruction as well as practical teaching training.

Skandinaviska Osteopathögskolan signed a Mou with Metropolia on the implementation of the validation

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed to promote collaboration between Metropolia UAS and Skandinaviska Osteopathögskolan (SKOHS) in Göteborg, Sweden. As the validation partner, Metropolia’s Department of Human Movement and Functioning is to review the osteopathy programme's curriculum and implementation of the education run by SKOHS.

In the future, to promote the consolidation of the competence base of the students and faculty members, diverse forms of traditional academic collaboration will be implemented. The combined resources will facilitate planning and implementation of joint study modules, co-creation of pedagogical solutions, and development of mutual research projects.

This new Nordic competence alliance is likely to attract more students and to increase osteopathy’s recognizability as a part of the healthcare service system. Ultimately, it is the clients of osteopathy, however, who will benefit the most from the shared expertize of SKOHS and Metropolia, as such collaboration will contribute to the quality of osteopathy services in the Nordic countries
