Teacher Education at Tshwane University of Technology, 2016 – 2019

Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences School of Vocational Teacher Education has been training teachers of Tshwane University of Technology (Pretoria, South Africa) faculty in higher education pedagogy. The aim is to train 150 faculty members for modern pedagogy.

The Core of the Finnish Education Model Made an Impact in Vocational Teacher Training in the Universidad Autónoma de Manizales, Colombia

The Finnish education model - Team work in Teaching and Learning - is an example of flexibility and collaborative approach and famous for developing teachers into education professionals. For these reasons the Univesidad Autónoma de Manizales settled an agreement with the University of Applied Sciences Haaga-Helia on a Vocational Teacher Education programme.

Educating Teachers in Colombia Consistent with the Finnish Model of Combining Academic and Professional Education

In 2014 SENA, Colombia’s National Training Service chose Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences and its School of Vocational Teacher Education as its partner to organize a vocational teacher education programme for their teachers. Colombians valued the Finnish model for its capability to combine both academic and professional education and for its understanding of the requirements of working life. Also the quality of the teacher education and pedagogical expertise mattered.

Programme SNET (El Sistema Nacional de Educatíon Terciaria) to develop Colombia´s higher education system and become the most educated country in Latin America

The Colombian Ministry of Education is developing the country’s higher education system through an ambitious programme SNET (El Sistema Nacional de Educatiòn Terciaria). Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences has participated in this initiative in two phases.

The Finnish education expert conducted international validation on the development of technology institutions  and trained 28 pilot institutions in Colombia. Many of the recommendations have been put into practice.

Startup School Concept to improve entrepreneurial skills and increase employment in South Africa

TUT and Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences are collaborating to implement Haaga-Helia Startup School programme. This project includes content design and implementation of a new entrepreneurship module, education of entrepreneurial skills, teacher exchange and R & D projects. The new entrepreneurship program empowers students to start new businesses.

Aviation Business degree programme to Chongqing, China

Chongqing University of Science and Technology (CQUST) have collaborated to implement Aviation Business Bachelor’s Degree programme in Chongqing. The programme started when a group of teachers from Chongqing came to Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences and started shadowing Haaga-Helia Aviation Business teachers.

International Business Dual Degree Programme to Mondragón-UCO, México

University of Mondragón in Queretaro México is implementing Dual Degree International Business Degree with Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences. The students specialize in customer relationship management and supply chain management and studies take place in México, Finland, Brazil and China. The students will gain a Finnish Degree from the programme.

Malta ITS (Institute of Tourism Studies) Multi-Program Partnership

The Institute of Tourism Studies in Malta contracted Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences for the delivery of a Top-Up Program for Teachers in Culinary Management and for Thesis Shadowing Program, the joint delivery of a Hospitality Management B.A., which combines the first country-wide Recognition of Prior Learning process.

Teacher training programme in China

The China-Finland Center of Exellence in Vocational Education in Shanghai invited Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences to implement pilot training program in vocational teacher training.
